What We Do:
Kids Are Fantastic (KAF) provides afterschool & enrichment programming in Astoria, Queens for children in Pre-K through 5th grade.
We currently operate onsite at PS 70Q, PS 17Q and PS 84Q in Astoria, and also serve students from Q300, PS 234Q, PS 122Q and St. Demetrios

We use Brightwheel for applications, communication and payments. You will need to sign up for an account and follow the instructions. Once we receive your application please allow up to 3 days for a response. You may also text 646-598-1892 for an update.
* Please note that tuition may vary slightly depending on whether your child will be using our bus service for pick-up.
A typical day when your child arrives consists of having a snack, working on homework, and then taking part in two activities. We operate from 2:15pm to 5:45pm Monday through Friday on school days.

Kids Are Fantastic is a community-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting working families by providing high-quality, affordable afterschool enrichment.

What We Offer:
Literacy
Literacy is more than a subject it is a foundation for lifelong success.
Our afterschool literacy program provides engaging, age-appropriate experiences that foster a genuine love for reading and writing. Through interactive storytelling, guided reading groups, creative writing exercises, and project-based learning, students strengthen vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking skills.
We create a nurturing environment where children feel supported to explore ideas, express themselves confidently, and develop the academic skills necessary for future achievement.
By investing in literacy, we are investing in each child’s voice, confidence, and opportunity.
Technology & STEM
Through our hands-on technology curriculum, students explore coding foundations, stop-motion animation, robotics, and creative digital projects in an age-appropriate way. Children learn to think logically, problem-solve, collaborate, and express ideas through technology—building confidence while developing real-world skills. All lessons are designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and teamwork through active, guided learning.
SEL-Social Emotional Learning
At Kids Are Fantastic, we believe learning isn’t just academic, it’s emotional too.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) helps children understand themselves and others. Through daily activities, group conversations, and guided reflection, children learn how to express feelings in healthy ways, build friendships, solve problems, and show empathy.
These skills help our students grow into confident, caring, and responsible members of our community.

We have Clubs! Cooking, Soccer, Knitting & Drama
At Kids Are Fantastic, we go beyond after-school care by offering exciting clubs and activities that spark creativity, teamwork, and new skills. Depending on the school, children can participate in Cooking, Soccer, Knitting, or Drama Club. Each club meets at least once a week, giving students who are interested the chance to explore their passions in a fun and supportive environment. From learning how to make simple recipes, to building teamwork on the field, expressing creativity through drama, or discovering the art of knitting — our clubs are designed to keep kids active, engaged, and inspired.
